Professor Amanda Fulford is a distinguished scholar in the field of philosophy of education and currently serves as Professor of Philosophy of Education and Associate Dean for Research and Impact at Edge Hill University’s Faculty of Education. Her research engages deeply with philosophical perspectives on literacy, academic writing, higher education pedagogy, student engagement, and the nature of conversation in university settings.
She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Education from the Institute of Education, University of London. Her work is notably influenced by the philosophies of Heidegger, Cavell, Levinas, and Buber. Professor Fulford has published extensively in high-impact international journals such as the Journal of Philosophy of Education, Ethics and Education, Educational Theory, and Studies in Philosophy and Education. She is co-author of the monograph Philosophy and Theory in Educational Research: Writing in the Margin (Routledge, 2016), and co-editor of the Springer series Debating Higher Education: Philosophical Perspectives.
Professor Fulford is actively involved in doctoral supervision and has presented at major international conferences, including those hosted by PESGB and INPE. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and serves as a reviewer for several leading academic journals.
